How each estimate is calculated
- Etsy: $0.20 listing fee + 6.5% transaction fee + 3% US Etsy Payments assumption + $0.25 processing fee.
- eBay: 13.6% final value fee plus $0.30 for an order of $10 or less, or $0.40 above $10.
- Amazon: 15% referral fee for the modeled Home & Kitchen category.
- Shopify Basic and Stripe: 2.9% + $0.30 for a standard domestic card, before Shopify's fixed plan cost.
- PayPal Checkout: 3.49% + $0.49 for the modeled domestic transaction.
Important limitations
This comparison excludes product cost, labor, packaging, seller-paid shipping, fulfillment, returns, customer acquisition, taxes on seller fees, disputes, currency conversion, international rates, and optional services. eBay's percentage base can include collected shipping, handling, and tax. Etsy's transaction and payment-processing bases differ by fee and location. Amazon category classification can change the referral fee. Shopify apps, domain costs, and third-party processor fees are not included.
